Terracon Foundation Awards Scholarship to Maine Student

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - The Terracon Foundation awarded Alyssa Foley a scholarship to assist her in completing a nursing degree at University of Maine at Fort Kent and Northern Maine Community College.

The Terracon Foundation provides the children and dependents of Terracon employees the opportunity to continue their education through scholarship assistance. The foundation presents scholarship awards up to $2,000 per student with total scholarship awards up to $25,000.

Foley is a daughter of Terracon employee, Nicole Foley, who is an administrative assistant for the Environmental and Geotechnical Departments in the San Antonio, Texas, office.  Foley expressed her thanks for the grant and pride in her daughter.

"This grant awarded by the Terracon Foundation is very much appreciated and will go far in helping to pay for Nursing School," Foley said. "I am extremely proud of Alyssa and all that she has accomplished thus far and I know she will make a great nurse."

The younger Foley also expressed gratitude to the Terracon Foundation for helping her to complete her nursing degree, which she has been working on for three years.

"Terracon has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to help out with pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree," Foley said. "I've worked hard over the past three years in order to achieve a childhood dream and I can't thank the Terracon Foundation enough for giving me an award such as this to help me in accomplishing this goal."

The Terracon Foundation was established in 2008 with a goal of investing more in the community.  The program expanded considerably during 2012 to provide a broader range of grant opportunities throughout the country. In addition to employee dependent scholarships, The Terracon Foundation also provides national partner grants, university grants, and community grants.

Terracon Foundation Awards Scholarship to North Carolina Student

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.- The Terracon Foundation awarded Huntersville local student, David D. Corley, a scholarship to assist him in achieving a civil engineering degree at North Carolina State University.

The Terracon Foundation provides the children and dependents of Terracon employees the opportunity to continue their education through scholarship assistance. The foundation presents scholarship awards up to $2,000 per student with total scholarship awards up to $25,000.

Corley is the son of Helen Corley and Terracon employee, David J. Corley, who is a department manager and senior associate in the Charlotte, N.C., office. Corley thanked the foundation for his son's scholarship.

"I would like to thank The Terracon Foundation for recognizing my son David with this generous grant," Corley said. "It will certainly help out as David continues to pursue his education."

The younger Corley said that it is an honor to receive the scholarship and he is excited to start his second year in college.

"I am truly honored to receive this award - It is a wonderful surprise which means a lot to both me and my parents," Corley said. "I am excited for what my college career will bring to my future and this scholarship will be a big help."

Terracon Foundation Awards Scholarship to North Dakota Student

FARGO, N.D.  - The Terracon Foundation awarded local student, Steven Schmidt, a scholarship to assist him with his first year at North Dakota State University, majoring in Construction Management.

The Terracon Foundation provides the children and dependents of Terracon employees the opportunity to continue their education through scholarship assistance. The foundation presents scholarship awards up to $2,000 per student with total scholarship awards up to $25,000.

Schmidt is the son of Terracon employee, Rodger Schmidt, who is a construction materials technician in Terracon's Fargo, N.D., office. Schmidt said that he is proud of his son and thankful to the foundation that provides opportunities for employee families.

"I am very proud of Steven and all he has accomplished to this point," Schmidt said. "I would like to thank Terracon for the support of employees' families by offering these scholarships."

The younger Schmidt also thanked the foundation for the scholarship.

"I would like to thank Terracon for acknowledging all the hard work I have done through my years in high school by offering me this scholarship," Schmidt said. "I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my life and their support is greatly appreciated."

Terracon Foundation Awards Scholarship to Kansas Student

OLATHE, Kan. - The Terracon Foundation awarded Whitney Cox a scholarship to assist her with pursuing an electrical engineering degree at Kansas State University.

Terracon Foundation provides the children and dependents of Terracon employees the opportunity to continue their education through scholarship assistance. The foundation presents scholarship awards up to $2,000 per student with total scholarship awards up to $25,000.

Cox is the daughter of Terracon employee, Lynnette Cox, who is an administrative assistant in the Lenexa, Kan., office. Cox said that she is happy for her daughter and thankful for the foundation, which provides opportunities for employee families.

"I am thankful to Terracon for offering these scholarship opportunities to Terracon families," Cox said. "I am so happy for Whitney being awarded a scholarship."

The younger Cox was surprised by the grant and also thanked the foundation for the scholarship.

"What an awesome surprise to open the mail and see that I had been selected for a Terracon Foundation Scholarship,"Cox said. "Thank you so much."

Terracon Foundation Awards Scholarship to Texas Student

MISSION, Texas - The Terracon Foundation awarded Paul Soto a scholarship to assist him with his studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

The Terracon Foundation provides the children and dependents of Terracon employees the opportunity to continue their education through scholarship assistance. The foundation presents scholarship awards up to $2,000 per student with total scholarship awards up to $25,000.

Soto is the son of Terracon employee, Alfonso Soto, who is a principal and department manager in the  Pharr, Texas, office. Soto said that he is proud of his son and thankful to the foundation, which opens up opportunities for employees and their families.

"We are very proud of Paul's selection as a recipient of a Terracon Foundation Scholarship and very excited about the program for future recipients in years to come," Soto said. "Programs like these that provide opportunities for Terracon employees and relatives make a difference and motivate us at a higher level."

The younger Soto thanked the foundation for contributing to his diverse education.

"I would like to give many thanks to The Terracon Foundation for assisting in my education and future," Soto said. "My academic interests and goals are diverse and expand through many fields. I recently returned from Costa Rica where I took a course examining environmental issues and the social, political, and economic issues that intersect within them."
